DID/OSDD Terms

Here are a few terms you might be unfamiliar with that you will see in our blogs.

Alter - Alternative personality, one of the personalities in my head. There are several terms people use for this, but Alter is the most well known.

Headspace - This is sort of a "mental palace" or place in my mind where the alters and I hang out.

System - A body or mind that holds more than one personality. This word refers to all of us.

Switch - When one personality takes over the body.

Co-con or Co-conscious - When 2 or more alters are aware of what's happening in the real world and both are influencing present time decisions about activities or speech.

DID - Dissociative Identity Disorder

OSDD - Otherwise specified dissociative disorder
